Listen To The Music
One of the things that we encourage new Salsa dance students to do is to include in their daily life listening to Salsa Music on Latin radio stations or anywhere you can find Salsa. Listen while you’re driving, cooking, cleaning, etc. The reason for this is that it helps to train your ear for dancing. It helps you to learn to hear the beat of the music and how that beat can be emphasized by different instruments. This will help you when you are dancing, because it doesn’t matter or not whether you’ve ever heard a song before, you can still dance to it and stay on beat. This may be hard to understand now, but you’ll understand it later if you begin listening now.
